Here I will lay out your options for printing your DIY Boudoir photos as well as provide pros and cons for each to help you make the decision that suits you best.
You have three good options for printing your pictures.
Print at Home
Online Printing Service
Professional Printing Company
You may have noticed that the kiosks at your local drugstore/big box store aren’t on the list. This is because most of them do not allow the printing of boudoir/artful nude photos. Its better, in my opinion, to use an online service, the one I recommend specifically accepts boudoir photos as long as they don’t venture into erotic territory.
Printing at Home
Printing your photos at home isn’t for everyone. But if you value your privacy, then it is your best option. If you have a modern printer, you will need to make sure it can print on photo paper and if so you’ll also need to check if it has any special ink requirements to print photos with.
If you do decide to print at home, take your time. Sometimes photos print differently than the way shown on your screen and you will have to make adjustments. The most common culprit is that your screen brightness is too high causing your photos to print out darker than expected. If you need a printer, Canon makes some excellent ones like the Canon PIXMA G620 MegaTank.
Pros
Privacy
Control Over Your Images
Potential Quick Turn Around
Cons
Ink and Photo Paper Can Get Expensive
No Expert Help
Learning Curve is High
Limited Options
Online Printing Service
An online printing service is the way to go if you want good quality, a good price, and less hassle. If you are worried about someone seeing your photos, know that yours will be among thousands of boudoir pictures being printed and they will quickly be forgotten.
The printing service I recommend is Mpix.com. I have used them in the past many times and have never been disappointed. They even offer color correction as part of their service. Mpix specifically states they print boudoir/nude photos. However, they do ask that your pictures remain tasteful.
Pros
Less Hassle for You
Color Correction Available
More Options (large prints, canvas prints, metal prints, and photo books)
Inexpensive
Cons
Not Private
Wait Time
Professional Printing Company
If you want the absolute best results, this is the option for you. You send them your edited images and they ship high quality prints back to you. Not only is the printing high quality, but the photo paper itself is higher quality and will last longer than normal photo paper. Yes it can be expensive, but you get what you pay for. I have not used this option myself, so I can not provide a recommendation to you.
Pros
Professional Quality and Service
Professional Touch ups
Cons
Can Be Expensive
Potential Wait Times
Finding a Reputable Company
Not Private
Final Thoughts
Now that you know your options, as well as the pros and cons of each, for printing your DIY boudoir photos. It’s time to start thinking about which is the best choice for you. Take your time and do some research into any companies you are considering using or run some tests with your photo printer at home. You have done a lot of work to produce the best pictures possible so be sure to get the most out of your efforts by printing images you will be proud of.
