Simple Outfits for DIY Boudoir

When it comes to outfits for a DIY boudoir shoot I’m a firm believer in keeping it as simple as possible. In fact you probably have everything you need in your closet right now. With that in mind here are 6 simple outfits for a DIY boudoir shoot.

  • T-shirt and Bottoms

  • Matching Bra and Bottoms Set

  • Men’s Button-Up Shirt

  • White Sheet Set

  • White Towel

  • Nothing

T-Shirt and Bottoms

Simple boudoir outfit

A plain T-shirt with a pair of bottoms gives you a look with a casual feel. While not as elegant as a full lingerie set with garter belt and thigh highs, the simplicity of this pairing is a great choice to kick start your session. You can also substitute the t-shirt for a sweater or tank top if you so desire.

Men’s Button-Up Shirt

The men’s button-up shirt is a way for a woman to include a little something of her man into the shoot. It can also be a very simple and sultry option. You can wear it with a bra and bottoms set, boxers, or with nothing underneath. So go ahead and raid his closet too.

Matching Bra and Bottoms Set

The matching bra and bottoms set is a versatile and easy combination with a myriad of options to choose from. For the bottoms you can go with a bikini, thong, hipster, boy short, G-string, or anything really. Same goes for the top. All they need to do is match and help you feel your best!

White Sheet Set

The white sheet set is an excellent “outfit.” Not only is it simple, but versatile as well. The great thing about the white sheet is you can show as much or as little skin as you want. Long been a staple in the boudoir scene the white sheet is a solid choice.

One of the extra advantages of the white sheet set is it will also brighten up your room. Making it easier to use natural light to get your shots. It’s a win-win.

White Towel

The white towel is the companion to the white sheet and many of the poses that you can do with one you can do with the other too. In addition the white towel can make for an excellent “outfit” for the classic getting ready at the bathroom sink photo.

Nothing

That’s right one of the best “outfits” you have for a boudoir shoot is nothing. Specifically I’m talking about implied nude. Yes you are nude, but you don’t actually show anything. After all one of your most powerful assets in boudoir is the imagination.

Final Thoughts

These are just some of the most basic outfits in boudoir. You will find variations of these in probably 99% of professional boudoir photographer’s portfolios. Don’t be afraid to experiment a little. Part of the fun of DIY boudoir is getting to experiment with something new at your leisure.
